The Blobfish Is One Strange Beast
The world has some really strange creatures and I thought I would share one of the strangest I've seen in a long time, the blobfish.
Blobfish are native to the deep waters off the coasts of Australia and Tasmania, an area not easily accessible by humans. They are located so far below sea level that our frail human bodies would be crushed under the pressure (or at least I would assume). The body of a blobfish is made up of a gelatinous mass that is only slightly denser than water, allowing this fish to float above the sea floor without the need for extraneous activities like swimming, and giving him a look that closely resembles Slimer of Ghostbusters fame. To hunt for food, the blob fish stays in place and waits for food to float to it, making it easily one of the least ferocious predators ever.
Here is another blobfish picture just to add an exclamation point to the weirdness that is blobfish.
